Our Approach

We try our utmost to source the very best ingredients to create our offerings at French Press Coffee Roasters. From our very own roasted coffees, to our hot chocolate made with Belgian chocolate and local milk. Our baked goods are baked fresh each day by Sam and Medea and include delicious muffins, lemon tarts, sticky buns, carrot cake as well as a number of seasonal offerings often available as gluten-free options.

Jeremy

It was whilst Jeremy was on tour as a professional violist that the idea of a career in the coffee industry presented itself. Life on tour had lost its charm and so in November 2000 the first coffee shop Coffeevolution was born in Huddersfield, UK. The second coffee shop followed a few years later as did the idea that roasting his own coffee was the way ahead. Bean Brothers Coffee Company was set-up as the roasting side of the 2 companies. For the last 21 years Jeremy has been heavily involved with specialty coffee, from educating about specialty coffee in universities, to judging in national barista competitions as well as being featured & writing for several industry publications. In September 2017 Jeremy moved out to Vancouver Island with his Canadian wife Hannah and their children and bought the French Press cafe in Qualicum Beach. The roaster arrived shortly after and in no time the French Press Cafe became French Press Coffee Roasters.

Jessica

Head Barista

Jessica is our go-to person for quality control and training of our coffee program, both in our cafe’s as well as training our wholesale customers' staff. When not immersed in the world of coffee Jessica is a talented artist who loves to study and speak Japanese.

Sam

Food Queen

Sam swapped a life in IT for becoming a professional foodie. Having worked in some fine restaurants in Vancouver, Sam felt the call of the island and made the Oceanside community her home. When she is not ensuring a high level of consistency across our food program, she is often found to be embroiled in the insurmountable task of getting Jeremy to write down any changes he makes to our recipes.
